We went to see Valentino the last emperor. Even though I’ve not paid enough attention to Italian fashion in the past, the film was quite entertaining. While I feel Signe Chanel was a somewhat more intimate peek into Karl Lagerfeld’s life, Signe Chanel retains decorum throughout. Maybe 15 minutes into Valentino you get to see a real fit. The film peeks into the business side of things with Valentino’s partner since 1960(!), Giancarlo Giammetti, and their struggle with the “new era” of fashion. Valentino’s pugs also have a few scenes which I dare say were more interesting than some of the celebrities featured.
